These Colors Don’t Run on Flag Day
I don’t believe our flag should be disgraced, especially not by the people and the policies of our government. Perhaps no other policy has sullied our national honor and soiled our flag more than the policy of torture.
Torture represents a sordid chapter in our national history, one that, unfortunately, is still being written. The stains on our flag will not fade away from forgetting, though many of us might hope they would.
This Flag Day, help me to remind others that justice has not yet been served on those who perpetrated this policy of torture: The full-size high-resolution JPEG for the “These Colors Don’t Run” graphic is available by clicking the small graphic in the upper left corner. This graphic is sized for a 4×6 photo that can be sent to any drugstore photo counter via upload, or just carry it in on a memory stick.
Then make as many copies/reprints as you like and pass them out on Flag Day to remind other citizens that honoring our flag takes more than just waving it on holidays, it takes an informed and active citizenry pressuring our government to respect our American ideals.
To the right are photos of some people you might recognize. If you care to identify those responsible for the USA policies of torture, just look to the right:
I created the first version of this graphic (with the “colors don’t run, but can be stained” concept) for Presidents’ Day, February 15, 2010 (before the Im-agi-Ned.com website was built). There was a short conversation about it on Facebook, which I’ve pasted in below:
Today is PRESIDENTS’ DAY. On my drive down the main street of my small town, flags are unfurled everywhere in honor. I believe in honoring our ideals, and our flag, and our Presidents, but not in conveniently forgetting where we have dishonored both our flag and our ideals. As my way of keeping us aware of what wrongs we still have to right, I created this graphic, called “These Colors Don’t Run…”
Ned Buratovich Who made me the conscience of our country? Nobody did, by virtue of our citizenship, we all are. I just tend to speak up more than most.
Jolie D. Thank goodness for the conscience!!! The people of this country are the only thing decent about America. The “presidents” and “leadership,” (with the exception of a few who still uphold their oath to protect and defend our Constitution/ rule of law,) are a disgrace to the Republic. They are bought and paid for by their corporate sponsors.
Afghan Leaders call surge “Imbecilic and Tragic”

Ned Buratovich Yes, our leaders have disgraced us and our media has deluded us. Our nation’s heinous acts are kept hidden from us. I read the article. I agree, so stupid and so very sad. We are not in Afghanistan to heal and help the population, we are there to subjugate them and steal their resources.
John C. What a disappointment the Democratic party has been. Obama’s a triangulator like Clinton. Reid’s weak and ineffective. And we have blue-dogs + Leiberman, all undercover Republicans! Heaven help us they are buying our democracy out from under us!!
Ned Buratovich
Democrats = Washington Generals
Republicans = Harlem Globetrotters
The game is rigged, the season tickets are unaffordable, the seats all have obstructed views, the PA system is full of static, the concession food is indigestible, the arena violates the building codes, the players are grossly overpaid, the owners are avaricious and malevolent, there’s no free parking, and the basketballs, uniforms and shoes are all manufactured overseas in child labor sweatshops. What’s not to like?
